Saturday 19th May – LWO Tenth Anniversary!

Saturday, 19th of May, 2018 from 10AM - 6PM | St Faiths | "Happy 10th Birthday LWO"

Throughout the day, we’ll be rehearsing and performing our favourite pieces from the last ten years (plus a few surprises!) inviting previous members and joining together with others who have helped make this thriving community band the success it has become. Please use this event link to invite others…

We plan to revisit our chosen ‘Pieces of the Year’ from the last decade in a series of informal mini concerts and have a bit of a party, too! Refreshments will be available through the day.

There will be a small charge of £5 per person to help cover some of the costs – we hope you can join us for the whole day, but please come for as long as you can…

The season ends

The summer bandstand season is over! Lambeth Wind Orchestra has played it’s last two summer performances of the year. On Sunday 10th we played at the Herne Hill Market bandstand to promote the upcoming Herne Hill Music Festival, and just this past Saturday the band opened for the Marchmont Street Party.

The band chose to mark the end of the season by celebrating another recent season’s end: Game of Thrones season 7. If you look closely you might notice some special guests in attendance. Folks came from all over Westeros.

Three videos from the Herne Hill Market bandstand performance, “Game of Thrones“, “The Incredibles” and “Sweet Gingerbread man” are now on the video section of the Gallery page.

The band is now busy preparing material for this years Autumn concert. Remember to keep Saturday 18th November free in your diaries!

Remembering Bruce

In the past week we sadly lost one of our very best

Lambeth Wind Orchestra chose to remember Sir Bruce Forsyth at Clapham Common by performing a song made famous by his US counterpart Sammy Davis Junior: “Sweet Gingerbread man”. Bruce and Sammy performed together a few times in their career, and there are plenty of other parallels to draw from the two, as all-round showmen, presenters, and crooners. Absolutely irreplaceable.

Two videos from this concert at Clapham Common on Sunday, “Bandology” and “Symphonic Beatles” are now on the video section of the Gallery page.

Thanks to the fine folks from the Clapham Society, the Clapham Common Management Advisory Commitee (CCMAC) and the London borough of Lambeth for making this bandstand performance possible. Much Appreciated.

We are performing next on Sunday 10th September at the Herne Hill Music Festival at the Market Bandstand between 11 AM and midday, and again on Saturday 23rd September at the Marchmont Street Party from midday.
